You're No Royalty
I memorized your eyes, and saw a crown which shone Only one day, I hoped, I would join you on the throne You looked me in my eyes; My wide, hopeful eyes. You told me I had a chance. I didn't think you would even glance. I let loose and sacrificed all, Only to clime where you sat tall. You always looked down to me, But wasn't that how it was meant to be? Soon, my triumph, Just simply, Wasn't enough. I wanted to be all I could be, For you. It was all for you. Everything I did, Anything I saw. But, oh, you knew you were being "so smart" As you stepped right on my heart. You took your staff and wedged it straight into me I warned you we were slipping off. You claimed everything was in my head. How your "attention" was all enough, And didn't care to listen. To take me in To block me out To chew me up And spit me out I know who you are More than you will ever know Because I was the one Tricked by your glow I want you to consider the possibility; Of being without your throne. How a crown won't protect you. Because, From all the truth I see, You're really no royalty.
