Your Eyes Tell
Your Eyes Tell* by Jack A.S. Dunce They say the eyes reveal one's very soul That's why one can get lost in someone's eyes. Is it not what lovers do when they stroll? Do they behold a world of bluest skies? Transported to an other wordly plane -- An understanding free from words' constraints. It's also why the eyes could never lie. A tear escapes even the poker faced The more he tries to keep his sad eyes dry When a goodbye is heard from the embraced. The face and tongue may lie beyond belief. But eyes, they always betray like a thief. Without the eyes, a smile is not a smile. It's true for laughter and the mien of joy. They're nothing more than make up to beguile The probing questions that tend to annoy. A smile or laugh that's just another lie My eyes can never hide, and so I sigh. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 02/03/2025 *Inspired by Kurt Cobain's: "If my eyes could show my soul, everyone would cry when they saw me smile"; and Japanese movie of same title
