You Were Kind
When I approached you I never knew you would be that kind to someone like me The fear of the unknown The fear of rejection Showed off through my shaky voice when I said "Hie" and a few words that followed Sweat flowed like a waterfall from me head to toe I never knew you would be kind enough to return my panicky greeting For you seemed to be of an upper class, an aristocrat, and all As we both sauntered home and we were conversing I found my confidence building Then I said I wanted to get you cars and mansions, you didn't give me some stick I was just a poor young blood with nothing in his pocket but a candy stick I knew a little about you, as far as your name, surname excluded I found myself wanting to know more After we parted, I found myself repeatedly thinking of you I hoped we were in sync, That you found yourself thinking of me too. But then I got informed you were already engaged, That wedding preparations were at a climax stage That’s when I realized you were only being kind
