You never had a chance.
You never had a chance Because I'd never let you get that close You see, the problem with me Is I like me the most And because I like me, I build these impossible walls that noone could ever break through. We call it self sabotage, but from my point of view: It's an armour I wear and while the load is heavy, I'd rather carry that burden even if you kept me. I'd never let you get that close I set you up for failure the minute the thoughts gather that you and I are matter made up of the same particles I know you'd leave me shattered. I see myself as separate but somehow still a part And I recognize the barbed wire I wear around my heart. I guess we're off to a bad start... You'll have to excuse me while I slowly detach The love I exude is abundant and very obviously unmatched. I'd give you a trickle but it wouldn't be enough I've got that healing ancient wisdom knowledge sacred juju stuff You know there's magic in my touch. In a world that takes and takes and takes I still choose to give But not to the extent where I question myself That's not how I choose to live. Someday, I'll find that ancient love, The one who knows my soul Or maybe I'll see that that love is me And that will break that will break the mold.
