YOU DON'T GET TO SAY!
You said, “It’s not that deep, You’ll get over it soon.” As if the size of my wound Was a fact for you to prove. You handed me that verdict, So casual and neat, As if my heartache’s timeline Was a memo for you to complete. But you don’t get to close a book Whose story you never took the time to read. You don’t get to call a storm“passed” When you never stood out in the rain. What you see as a scratch, I feel as a breaking bone. What you call“a little sad,” Has moved into my home. So take your easy comfort, Your simple, shallow view. The pain is mine to carry, And the healing is mine to do. And you—you have no power here. You don’t get to decide When my battle is over, Or where my wounds should hide
