You and Us
And I played with meteors when you played with butterflies. I had planets engraved in my heart, with storms dustier than Jupiter's I had constellations glittering in my scars, patterns even the stars could never quite figure out. I had hidden oceans under my brunette hair, with tides even the Moon couldn't control. I was a universe confined in a world too small to inhale the extremity of my supernovas. My black holes couldn't breathe and my Sun was starting to shrink. But you came wandering, a celestial body right out of Heaven's gateway. You freed my atmosphere of all human breath, You rid my comets of every ordinary touch, And I felt like my stars had exploded inside my skin, For the magic was far too extreme to be kept caged inside human flesh. Then you touched me, and darling, I fell in love with your fire.
