Yet Again
Yet Again by Jack A.S. Dunce And yet again I wear the mask I hate. I thought at last I've put it all behind With all the fancy lies it made in spates; To my own truth it sadly made me blind. I watched it sink into the dark abyss Held down by the heavy weight of the past, Thrashing around as it sank with a hiss -- A final threat that it won't be its last. Into the world I tried to walk as me Without the trappings foisted as the norm But found myself knock down, taking a knee, Again, for someone else's sake, true to form. Once more I walk among the said living Obeying so-called gods and saying amen While wearing starched stiff smiles with eyes glazing. I live but I am not me yet again. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 10/13/2025
