Standing on your pedestal Looking down at me Filled with righteousness And your false indignity. It seems that I'm not worthy Of who you think you are That I have only wronged you And you're a shining star. You can't even stop To consider what you've done To think that there is pain That YOU have brought upon. Your silence has a goal It's my spirit you want broken But a stronger me emerges With words I have not spoken. You need to prove your point So you turn your back so hard If cruelty makes you win You hold the highest card. Does it make you feel so big To treat me so very small? Does withholding kindness Make you righter than us all? At the end of all that is And all that you've refused My spirit isn't dampened When you stomp upon my fuse I've reached out and tried You just smacked my hand away Because you can't admit That you hurt me along the way. Seems forgiveness is only yours And you steadily withhold it Never considering there's cruelty And you surely have bestowed it. So again the sun will rise And a new day will set forth Where I know who I am And all that I am worth.
