WOUNDS BEHIND LOVE
In the stillness of a deep, silent night, Love knocks on a door long closed, But this heart, cracked and out of light, Can’t welcome it, though longing grows. Once, sweet promises turned to poison, Woven with lies in a tender disguise, Now every touch feels like suspicion, Every soft word—is it truth or lies? I love, but fear holds tight, Afraid to fall, afraid to break, This heart was once turned into dust, Blown away with no path to take. Trust is no gift easily given, It’s built, then broken again and again, And now you come, bringing light, But trauma whispers, “Don’t trust too quick.” If you truly wish to stay, Be patient with the walls I’ve made, For love is here—it never died, It’s just trapped behind scars I hide. --- If you'd like it more poetic, lyrical, or adjusted to rhyme differently, I can revise it further.
