Witness
Water ripples the shoreline, sunny, windy, beautiful. The sea breeze kisses the trees deeper inland. Waves grow, darkness rolls in, cracks and booms, electric strikes illuminate the sky. The future is uncertain. It pulls itself onto land. An imposing behemoth, judge, jury, and executioner supreme. It stands and begins to walk inland, its pace slow. I watch as towers of progress collapse, safety, and security now gone. Shrieks begging for redemption swiftly silenced. Yet there is no malice or contempt, a harsh reality. Once great men and women stripped bare, reminded of the honest truth endowed by Gaia to all her offspring.
