wishing star
I wish I were pretty, slim, and rich, Not stuck in life’s unfair glitch. Why can’t I shine, just bright enough, Instead of feeling plain and rough? Why do the kids just wish, then get, While I earn mine through sweat and debt? Why do they eat and stay so light, While I gain pounds with every bite? I clean, I try, I always care, But life still feels so unfair. Still, I dream and still I fight, Hoping one day, I’ll get it right.
