"Why me?"
That afternoon, the sunset blazed with fire, But my heart remained, in dark desire. You grasped my forearm, with gentle might, Tugging me to talk, through the silence so bright. Your nails dug deep, with desperate plea, But I stood firm, like a stubborn tree. Headphones on, music blasting loud, I tried to keep straight, a face so proud. But the weight of your touch, still lingers on, A memory etched, where your nails were gone. I never knew, I'd feel such pain, Grief and regret, for the love in vain. Why should you cry, for me? Why should you bleed, for someone like me? Why should you sacrifice, your heart's own peace? Why?... Why me? You left that day, with tears unspoke, And I remained, with a heart that broke. The music drowned, my inner sigh, But your absence, echoed, and wouldn't die. Your touch still burns, like a brand on my skin, A reminder of what I let slip within. I see your face, in my mind's eye, A fleeting glance, of what could've been, goodbye. The sunset's glow, still painted the sky, But my heart remained, in a lonely sigh. Why should you care, when I didn't deserve? The memory of your touch, forever I will preserve.
