Why - June 7th 2023
In the depths of despair, I wonder why, I try so hard, but they won't bat an eye. Why should I care when all they do is stare, No helping hand to help me cope, just the empty air. I'm ignored, exposed, left all alone, In the realm of self, where I have grown. But self isn't bad, it's all I know, No one cares, no one cares, that's how it goes. Why do I still have hope, I ask in pain, Why do I believe in people, time and time again? They've shown their true colors, proven me wrong, With every lie and act, my trust is gone. Why do they deceive, why do they pretend, Why do they act like they'll lend a hand? So many questions, swirling in my mind, But the answers I seek, are so hard to find. So why cling to hope when it's met with disdain, Why believe in people who cause nothing but pain? They've shown their true colors, time and again, Lies upon lies, deceit without end. Why do they deceive, why do they pretend, To offer support, yet never truly extend? So many questions, with answers obscure, In this darkened abyss, I'm left unsure For I am a poet, with words stained by pain, In the depths of my verses, despair will remain. No strength to arise, no voice to resound, Just echoes of anguish, lost and unfound.
