Why do we have crushes ...

Today I read something and wanted to save it .... Why do we have crushes when we can't have them , like what's the point ? We sit here falling for someone who probably doesn't even look at us the same way , we build little dreams in our head tiny moments , tiny what ifs, And then reality hits like wow, none of that is ever going to happen , we waste time liking someone who won't be ours, we give feelings that were never ever asked for , we care without being noticed and yet we still continue liking them even though it hurts quietly , not enough to break us but enough to make us feel heavy inside like your carrying something you can't put down. why do we do that to ourselves , why do we love what we cant touch , may be crushes are just reminders that we can feel deeply even when we get nothing back but honestly it still sucks...
