Whirlpool
Deep beneath the surface I see a glimmering hope, flickering with each wave. As I dive down into the abyss, watching as the sea tries everything in its power to stop me, I watch as my shimmer dims and dulls with each creature taking from it. After my efforts, my shining light slips through my fingers. It can't be helped I suppose. who am I to defy the sea's intention. Delirious, looking up to the sky, I lock eyes with that I fear most. A beautiful creature stands before me, Offering my every desire. Shimmering like the light that I've been chasing for so long. I reach out, touching the false idol. So easy. The light I seek is mine, So brightly incandescent. In my haze, I fail to see. It's hollow and fake. I dive back down, Fighting the alluring call. Stroke after stroke, I fall deeper, closer than I ever have been. The pressure ever building, the crushing sensation I know so intimately. I reach out for my light, only to be denied again. It can't be helped I suppose. Who am I to defy the sea's intention.
