Where the Stars are Frozen
Where the Stars Were Frozen R Becker (Dedicated to this dedication) In a beginning that was more like The End The sky was not my friend It held an awful grudge for me So did the beaches So did the sea I was lonely Even more than alone Sadness was the only book I owned Trapped in a trap A trap made by myself I couldn't blame anyone else There was no one else It was the life that I had chosen Where the stars are frozen Where promises are skin deep Where weary hungers can't sleep I hope someday to see you Where meteor showers find you In showers In sweet lessons They answer all your questions Where the stars are frozen First, a fugue from our pianos Next, we cue the altos Escape comes from the baseline We exit stage right in quarter time You sparkle and I sparkle We say , "Isn't it awful? That there are ends to happy endings And what about the nothing That it's saying?" O speak to me My nothing! Turn my everything into butter Mix it with milk and honey And stir and chill in Refrigerated memory Then Serve the world. Also Don't forget to melt the stars And turn out The night lite. Sweet dreams...
