Where Light Betrays

You may try to find loyalty from the sun Will leave for the moon and owe loyalty none Chasing loyalty from the stars up high Yet their shine will leave your eyes dry We pay no mind to the shadow silent Neither malignant nor of intent violent Watching from all angles every hour Never leaveth of pain nor fear cower What would it say if ever decided to stray The sun so bright or the moon of night it pray All secrets kept under lock and key Saw it all and never we did make it flee Yet will it remember the times of pride Where we acted without reason only snide Perhaps maybe our actions of greed Pennies more important than others of need Will it recall our most disgusting acts of lust When the next pivot of ecstasy rivaled trust Maybe then too of our most envious thoughts Pining for what others possess to throwing lots Remember when we ate more than we could chew The gluttony consuming our hearts true When we prosecuted our brothers out of hate Beating others down as wrath wound its fate Will our shadow recalls when one we loved asked for help So slothful we sat by as they suffered in silence without yelp Oh the sins stack if our shadows left to tell None are as loyal as our darkness fell
