Where Hope Fades
They said that prayer would heal my soul, That faith in God would make me whole. But all I found was endless rain, And every prayer just brought more pain. Now I have walked away from grace, No longer seeking God's embrace. Yet here I watch my friend believe, And see her heart begin to grieve. She prays with tears, she holds on tight, But shadows steal away her light. Her loved ones fade, and with them, trust — As dreams she built turn into dust. So tell me why this faith must break, Why love for God brings so much ache. If prayers are seeds that never grow, Then what's the point of kneeling low? And though I wish to ease her pain, To hold her hand through all this rain, I fear my words will fall apart, Too weak to mend a breaking heart. - BD
