Where Did My Heart Go?
I didn’t know that when you left, you would take a part of me with you. There’s a quiet space inside my heart now, one that only your voice could fill. Some days I smile at our memories, and some days they break me without warning. I look for you in every old man I see. In the way they walk. In the way they sit. In the softness of their eyes. For a second, I hope it’s you. For a second, I forget you’re gone. Out of everyone in the world, you once said my name. And now I replay it like it’s the only thing keeping me close to you. They say people leave, but you didn’t just leave, you carried a piece of me with you. And I’m still here, learning how to live with the part of my heart that went with my achachan.
