When Youthful Bonds Fray
We were invincible, wild, and free Chasing sunsets, our spirits careening But now, the fire's dwindled, the flame's gone cold Leaving embers of memories, growing old Our laughter echoes, a distant, fading sound As adult worries, like shadows, wrap around The lollipops of youth, now bitter, ash-filled air A reminder of the price we pay for growing there We traded sleepless nights, and dreams that never died For mortgage payments, and the daily grind's heavy tide Our paths, once parallel, now diverge, and stray Leaving only whispers of what we used to say But still, we hold on to fragments of the past When love, and friendship, forever seemed to last Though life's taken its toll, and time's gone by In memories, our youthful hearts still whisper "why".
