When you choose peace
When you choose peace, it comes with a cost, A string of goodbyes that forever will be lost. I've made peace with my heart, but I miss you still, The memories of our love, a bittersweet thrill. I tried with all my might, with every breath I took, To make our love work, but it was a bond that broke. I gave it my all, my best, my everything, But in the end, it was clear our love wasn't meant to sing. The hardest part of peace is letting go, Releasing the hope that we could've made it grow. But I know that I must, for your happiness' sake, Give you the freedom to find joy, to make your heart awake. It's painful, oh so painful, to let you walk away, But I know that I'm worth it, that I'm important each day. I'm choosing peace, though it's hard to bear, Because I know that I deserve to heal, to find my happiness there. So I'll hold on to peace, though it's a heavy weight, And trust that someday, I'll find love that won't abate. And though it's hard to say goodbye, I know that peace will guide me, and help me to get by.
