When words wound
“You’re just passing your trauma on.” “You could have tried a bit harder.” “It’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem.” “Everyone struggles—you just have to push through.” “Strong people don’t do that.” How irresponsible— as if suffering is a choice, as if pain is a mistake, as if those who break aren’t worthy of being heard. While I was already fighting, already trying, already surviving. Those words cut. Sharp. Deep. Sometimes I’m still suicidal, and yet I know: I have the right to feel, the right to think, the right to say: the system fails. Safety fails. Care fails. Prevention fails. A beautiful life is not always for everyone.
