When love leaves it's mark
Young love, a heart so true, Why does it hurt more than any breakup, too? Why can't I forget his name, his smile so bright? Why can't I move on without him in my sight? Why does he haunt my dreams, a persistent guest? A bittersweet reminder of what we once possessed. I borrowed traits from Mom's grace and Dad's might, To impress him, prove I'm different in sight. Unlike other girls, I claimed, with heart aflame, My love was pure, not driven by material gain. I took risks at an age when caution was wise, To show him my love, my heart's surprise. But now, in hindsight, I see the cost, A young heart broken, and a love that's lost. I haven't found a soulmate, but it took him just three hours To find another love, it seems, and move on with ease. The irony stings, a bitter pill to swallow, A reminder that love's pace can be uneven and hollow. My fingers hover over the phone's glow, To text him maybe, but my heart says no. My heart's a mess, it can't decide, Between love, hate, and loneliness, which way to slide. Who's drawn to sacrifices and pain? Is it love or madness that drives me to remain? In this cycle of heartache, I search for a way out, But my emotions are tangled
