When Love Begins to Fade
I held your hand but lost my grip, Chose the bottle over your steady lips. Now silence speaks where laughter grew, And I’m left staring at the ghost of you. You watched me drift, drink after drink, While I drowned us both and didn’t think. Your eyes once warm, now cold with doubt, And I can't find the way to pull us out. You feel so far, though you’re still near, Each day you fade, and that’s my fear. I didn’t mean to make you feel alone, Now I’m the stranger in your home. But if there's a spark still in your chest, Let me be the man who tries his best. Not with promises I’ll soon betray, But with every choice I make each day.
