When I first saw you.
I saw his name, the first time, on a letter, It did something strange, I couldn’t explain better. A pull in my chest, a flicker of light, A feeling so deep, before the first sight. Then there he was, in that quiet room, A stranger, yet close, like flowers in bloom. Words tumbled out, like we’d known all along, Like the melody's hum, like an old, familiar song. We spoke, we laughed, the hours passed fast, And in his presence, I thought, could this last? A connection I felt, warm, soft, and true, Like the world made sense when I was with you. But time did its dance, and I stepped away, Walls built up, as night followed day. We went silent, though my heart still cried, Ignoring the love I no longer could hide. Now, I watch from a distance, pretending I’m free, As he talks and laughs with others, but not with me. His smile to them, the spark in his eyes, While I’m lost in the shadows of my own disguise. It hurts to see him so light, so unbound, While I’m just a memory, buried in the ground. But I wear a mask, pretending to be whole, When in truth, he still lingers deep in my soul.
