What you left behind
Please remind me not to be sad, Help me to forget the moment my heart broke, When I felt it plucked out of my chest and tossed aside, I thought you’d tear it apart but you just left it there, within your possession. Didn’t I tell you, I told you; You’ll always have a part of me, I’d always be yours. Now I'm left in this vacant space with vivid memories that I wish were vague, Lingering hopes of the future that got left behind, The words we shared turning into withers before they ever got the chance to bloom, All because I loved you. My hands bleed from holding on to this unrequited love, Like barbwire sunk into my hands and ripped away the flesh, Please look at these scars. I wear them loud for everyone to see, Praying somehow I heal from what you've done to me.
