What Survived?
What Survived? by Jack A.S. Dunce I used to dream of conquering the world Of venturing into unknown frontiers, To place my flag into the wind unfurled, And stake my claim over all of my fears. I swam the troubled seas of sweat and tears, And maybe even crossed the river Styx, For I still feel my soul burning with sears, Or are they just the scars left by conflicts? I trekked the torturous path through Hades With nothing more than my own blood and guts, Oblivious that I've joined the Crusades, Fighting for gods who've never seen the ruts. The years of battling chipped away my edge, While all the blood and sweat dulled out my sheen, But somehow I outlived their very pledge, That earned me a trip to the lost ravine. In here, it seems Time has picked up its pace; I only see sunsets and hear goodbyes, That has brought me another fear to face As now I'm left with me, myself, and I. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 12/16/2025
