what once was
You were... the giggle of a sleeping newborn The sound of a shell brought against my ear And the warmness of coming home after being out in the snow storm. Yet now, I see you and my heart is unmoved. The veil has fallen, and I stand in awe of my own previously unacquainted blindness. Behold my fault, of never seeing you for you, And you, never seeing me for me. To you... i was a lukewarm glass of milk The dirt underneath your nails, The eyelash in your eye. And a gust of wind blowing inconveniently, So my dear, the best we can do for us, is to never let there be an us again. -12/07/2023 11.11
