what is your best memory?
When someone asks me for a memory I can't bring myself to answer a specific one. I see trees, smiles, people I love but will never be able to love again. I see two weeks of exhaustion and challenge, laughter and tears. I wish I could say my most cherished memory were the last time I saw my godfather before he died. I wish it were every second spent with my best friend or meeting my favorite artist and hearing his voice. I wish it were all those memories I cherish too but in truth the first thing that comes to mind is summer '23. Not visiting europe with my friends, not the concerts or the late night cigarettes, but the two weeks where the food wasn't perfect but there was music. The bed was uncomfortable but I've never laughed that hard at night. It is the memory I cherish most, maybe because it is fresh. I cherish it but I also feel for it, for the more I think of it the more I hate it.
