What is Reality?
No one to tell me it wasn’t all right I believed every word, every lie, every night On my knees I was begging, begging for my life You stood there laughing, waving a knife From the outside you seemed perfect Friends wished you were their mom But inside was different – as day is to night I longed to understand why nothing felt right With no others to compare, just trying my best Straddling the line; sister-parent-child-pest Your increasing hatred becoming ever clear Never allowed to show you my fears My only concerns became for my siblings lives I had long given up hope of saving mine By convincing me, I’d be dead by eighteen You fuelled my IDGAF attitude and dreams I gave up trying to please you It never worked anyways Time to enjoy my life Or what’s left – as you say Fifteen years later, no longer trapped in your home Siblings are thriving, I have kids of my own You’re now dead and gone – and I’m still here How much longer will I hear your voice in my ears.
