What is in forever.
We used to say "forever", Back, way back when we were young, We used to say"love" and mean it, Back, way back when the stars beyond Weighted far more than mere gold. Now I sit here, wondering where we lose it all, When or how I lost my jolly sailor bold, What turned a poet into a heart so cold? Who applies the scientific method to the soul, And money is the only lover he truly longs for. Forever is nevermore; a story of old, Sepia memories in my mind unfold, Just a cheesy flashback of a trite rom-com. As I look at you now, I'm chilled to the bone, Have we ever even tasted the honey of love? The answer to that question I truly don't know, My heart right now lies bereft of any warmth, My soul is quite indifferent of the emotion lost, And if you were to ask her, she'll surely say "no". This is the story of a man who sold his joy for gold.
