what i gave you

1. i gave you everything i thought i had to give. i poured myself into you, a cup that never seemed to fill. you took it all and never once asked if i needed anything back. 2. i loved you in a way i didn't know how to love myself. i built you up while i tore myself apart thinking you'd see the pieced i left behind. but you never did. you just walked past them like they were nothing. 3. you wanted all of me, but never truly understood that giving someone everything means giving up something too. you took it all, but i was left with nothing but the feeling of being used and unseen. 4. i used to think that if i gave you enough, you'd see me. but the more i gave, the less you cared. now, i'm learning that i was never meant to be your sacrifice. 5. sometimes i wonder if you even realised how much i gave; how much of myself i lost in the process. but i won't ask anymore. i know now that the only thing i ever needed was to give myself.
