What I Deserve
I have no need for a smile For I have not lived a true life I deserve to drown in bile Suffer pain & strife To understand true sadness Before falling into the madness Because what have I done To have earned anything Under the bright sun On my finger a burning ring To mark my heresy To piety What have I done to those I anger Other than joking remarks That might put me in danger I entered a world so dark I have a hard time seeing the light In front of my very eyes What have I done to deserve love I have earned no such thing Not even on the wings of a dove Do I deserve to sing No ballads for my lowly head Buried unmarked; lost & dead
