Watermark
Watermark by Jack A.S. Dunce The water lapped against my weary feet As rushing waves subsided on the beach Where I sat on the sand, alone and beat, My ears filled with the ocean's solemn speech, As loud as thunder yet never a shout, A measured elocution quelling doubts. The waves swashed and retreated, to and fro, Each time eroding all imprints away Until there was only the sea's furrow That slithered at each breaking waves pathway. I felt the very sand under my feet Shifting about with every wave's retreat. I thought I saw a few pairs of footprints When I strolled along the length of the beach. But looking back, I only saw my prints; The waves' onslaught had eaten away each. And right before my eyes, I saw those I made, A few moments ago, begin to fade. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 02/22/2025
