Waterfalling
Rain Still trying to go? Van packed, kids fed, rain in the morning You say there's a huge cloud, I say I can see your house Between the laughter of it all and imposing scenes, We are met with sunshine and swollen rivers The first falls broke over the rocks with a roar My kids were terrified of the white foam and chaos On to the next You can't go here, trees are down, no power Paths were lost, but we were found Broken roads lead to perfect adventures The kids, the kids play with you and follow behind No wonder it was called Buttermilk, the light shine straight As the water broke all angles You were off on your expedition and I Was stuck looking up at you as always Back to van with fingers crossed it wasn't flagged Swinging heads and car rides I couldn't stifle my amusement at the sight Occasionally, you would play with my daughter My heart would swell with hope of things that would never be Life is funny how people wash into it No matter how it flows, please promise me Please don't leave me with the Rain
