War (Part 2 of 2)
But the slaughter never started; No atomic conflagration, No use of atomic weapons. Not the maiming and the killing; Not a time of senseless slaying, Not a time for World War III. Then in the late 1980's, There came two men out from the people. Men who faced the world together, Men who finally would agree, That they had to end the cold war; End this useless, bloodless contest; Stepped back from the wall together, Stopped this hostile threat to mankind, And stopped this senseless threat to peace. We still see those wars of nations; Still see factions fight each other, People harmed by hostile forces, Restless nations of the world. But there no longer is a cold war; Yet, still a threat of cruel atomics, Still the fear of super weapons, Still the chance of human slaughter.
