War
Our love is like a battlefield You stand steady with your shield The war hasn't even begun but I've chosen to yield That difference alone tells me all that needed to be revealed You're clad in armor, from head to toe While I remain bare, because I already know You never believed in my love for you, thinking it was just for show I tried it all, anything I could think of, all that it took to make u understand that I wouldn't go You looked past my words, my actions, my efforts; none of it managed to do the trick You still hold a sword to my chest, firm enough just to prick With only my heart in my hands, I wait for you to take it while the clock continues to tick I look to find yours but it seems to be hidden behind layers of brick We've always been different, you and me Different goals, different hobbies, different languages of love; though I never saw that as a reason to flee I would've given you the world, everything you ever wanted, if only you let me Seems like i saw you as the yin to my yang but you'll only ever view me as the enemy
