Waiting for Sunset
Waiting for Sunset by Jack A. S. Dunce Each time I wake up, I fall to my knees. I put on a brave face just for the show, so I've longed for the sun to set amongst trees. I've dreamt of flying once more with the breeze. It fast became the nightmare of so long ago. Each time I wake up, I fall to my knees. I see no longer the need to please; the writings on the wall is all aglow, so I've longed for the sun to set amongst trees. For decades I flew as one of the bees, but I've seen the lone bloom in the dark shadows. Each time I wake up, I fall to my knees. Try as I may, my past I can't reprise; it's time to listen to the calling crows, so I've longed for the sun to set amongst trees. It's a fool's errand trying to appease a certainty that has come for what is owed. Each time I wake up, I fall to my knees, so I've longed for the sun to set amongst trees. ©️pgmr 10/28/2024
