Voices That Keep Us Company
Voices that keep us company, are judged by those who don’t know us. They call us psycho, sociopath, and still look away. We raise a wall of silence around us and sink into an invented perfection— a world where we are understood. We live there to become the life we want. We craft egos to cope: the shy learn to be bold; the afraid learn to be brave. We shrink into our shells, stay beneath the shadows, doing everything to adapt. Humans fear what they cannot name. When we are kind, they use us. When we are gentle, they take advantage. When we are cruel, they call us monsters, yet perhaps the monsters were always them.
