Village
They say "it takes a village to raise a child" But they never pay attention When the child breaks, Like a twig being snapped. And when they do snap, they don't say "I'm sorry" they say they had a sickness. And maybe we did, but it was more of a war. Our screams silenced by ignorance. Our tears dried up by the fake warm smile we paint on each day. Our true selves hidden like buried treasure. And when we said "I'm not okay" you said back "get over it" Like depression is something that you can simply bandage. And when we went to the bathroom And took those 20 Advild in our hand with a glass of water You never did anything. When we awoke in a gown that was blue, our eyes filling with tears and panic You never chose to say "I'm sorry" You simply yelled "how could you!" So I have one question, What happened to the village?
