Veins of Iron
In the shadows of my mind, I ache, A hollow husk, a dying flame, Yet they pry with hands so fake, Demanding life where none remains.Bones of lead, heart wrapped in rust, My body begs to simply fade, But they drag me through the dust, Ignoring every silent blade. Each breath, a curse I cannot shake, A storm of sorrow, endless, vile, They smile and force my soul to break, Demanding I pretend to smile.Eyes that see but never know, Their laughter sharp, it cuts, it kills, Forcing me where I cannot go, Feeding on my silent ills.Let me sink into the earth, Where peace can wrap its cold embrace, But they deny my one true worth, And mock the scars upon my face.Oh, to rest in endless night, Where thoughts can’t pierce, where pain can’t tread, But they pull me to the light, Not caring if I wish I’m dead.So here I stand, a puppet frail, In their world, I’m just debris, But deep inside, I wail, I wail— Why can’t they just let me be?
