unwillingly
I am learning how to move on, even when every part of me still reaches for you. I am learning how to let go, even when my hands were made to hold yours. I don’t want to move on. I don’t want a world where you are only a memory, where loving you has nowhere left to go. But life keeps moving, dragging me forward while my heart stays behind, waiting in places you no longer return to. So I keep walking. Not because I want to— but because I promised you I would keep living. You told me, “If one day I’m gone, promise me you’ll live. Promise me you’ll keep going.” I laughed back then, never thinking those words would become the hardest promise to keep.
