My heart breaks apart at every text. My world crumbles at the daggers your words carry. I feel the need to hold you tight, to hug you and make you know we're both in this fight. I don't want to lose you, but you're walking farther into the tunnel. I can't lose you, I tell myself every time. I can feel the distance, and reality hits me every time. I never really did ask if you were okay, if anywhere hurts. I just always poured out my heart to you while yours broke in silence. I'm sorry I was such a fool. I'm sorry I didn't realize that behind every smile was someone who was silently hurting deep. Now I feel I've lost you. You're numb, your smile is lost, your light isn't bright anymore. The thought of getting that last phone call haunts me. I never want to get it. I don't want to have to mourn you. I just can't. I wonder if you actually brought me out of the tunnel and replaced me. I was on the verge of ending it all, but you stopped me. Now, you're at the tip of taking your last breath, and you won't even let me in. I'm hurt, my heart aches. This is a punishment I don't think I can recover from."
