Can I be the poem, not the poet, in this cruel design? Yearning for a love that was never truly mine. As the sunset paints the sky in hues divine, I sail the ocean of memories, our hearts intertwined. "Let's meet in the fields of green," we once dreamed aloud, But dreams shattered, like waves against a distant cloud. This night, so sparkling, slips through my grasp, Wonderstruck, blushing, I knew it couldn't last. If I'm going down, I'll take you with me, For your essence is etched in every memory. Forever haunted by what could have been, Enchanted by you, my heart still unseen. In the darkness, echoes of our laughter fade, Each smile I feigned, a masquerade. Your gaze, a fleeting spark in the cold, Whispers of love, in silence, left untold. I yearn to be the poem, a tale of woe, Trapped in a love that could never grow. As twilight deepens, and stars ignite, I drown in the memories, losing the fight. "Let's meet in the fields of green," we dared to say, But dreams are but shadows that swiftly decay. This shimmering night
