Unspoken
I wear a smile like a mask, A quiet lie no one will ask. They see the light I fake each day, Not all the ways I fade away. The world says “Look, the sky is blue,” But storms are all that I see through. They praise the sun, the rising tide, While something cold grows deep inside. My thoughts are blades I never share, Each one a whisper, sharp with care. They trace along a hidden line, A silent scream: “This pain is mine.” I want to speak, I want to cry, But every word just comes out dry. The fear of being seen too much Keeps all my wounds outside of touch. They wouldn't get it — how it feels To question if the hurt is real. To ache and not know what it means To live in cracks and shattered scenes. So I keep quiet, play the part, And stitch the seams across my heart. Not brave enough to reach or fall not sure if I even exist at all But even when the night is long, And nothing in me feels that strong, I write this down, in hope, in spite— To prove I made it through the night.
