Unseen in the crowd
I keep feeling out space, constantly feeling like a hindrance in this world full of shame. I am not talkative because I do not have much to say, So I end up being quiet for the rest of the day. I am not like those extroverts shining, like stars, So as an introvert, I will look at them from afar. I am not capable to muster enough courage for the day, So I keep struggling every time, even when I just have to say hey. I am not as sociable as my parents expect me to be, Their worried eyes often glance at me. They hope I’ll change, but they don’t understand, This is who I am, not what I planned. Each word feels heavy, like dragging a chain, Each silence a comfort, yet soaked in pain. I watch the world from my lonely place, Longing for warmth, yet fearing the chase. The louder the laughter, the more I retreat, Afraid of rejection, afraid of defeat. It’s not that I don’t wish to be near, But the walls I’ve built are stronger than fear. Perhaps one day, they’ll see my light, A quiet glow in the endless night. But until then, I’ll stay in the shade, A soul unseen, a shadow that fades.
