Unseen Architect of Frost
He never knew, the reason deep inside, Why who I was began to slowly hide. A fortress built, where coldness would reside, A shield against the pain his touch supplied. He never knew how fiercely I would yearn For "us," while his own actions made me burn. Unknowing that his deeds would sharply turn, The promises he'd break, a bitter learn. Like shattered glass, the words he wouldn't keep, Tore through the trusting chambers of my sleep, And left my vulnerable spirit to just weep. It seems my heart was destined to embrace A selfish love that left no gentle trace, Refusing nurture, leaving empty space, A shattered ruin in this lonely place. He is the storm where all my tears take flight, The weeping darkness of my endless night. And now I stand where shadows dim the light, To choose between us, risking all that's right. I yearn to choose him, though the pain cuts through, A constant whisper, urging me, "Adieu." I love him still, a truth both strong and true -But can my spirit this long ache subdue, And bear this endless sting, forever new, For just the fragile hope that might accrue?
