Unsaid, Unseen
When we're no longer together, And you've found your place in someone else, Still, the first thing my eyes seek, Is your bike, where it leans, By the door, or against the wall— My heart, it trembles at the thought Of you, if you've come or not. My gaze, it strays, it never rests, To catch a glimpse of you, at best— Through halls and corners, you appear, And though you smile, I can't be clear If your thoughts are the same, or if I'm just lost in what I wish to see. When you're absent, the world grows dim, A quiet ache, my spirits thin, No words are spoken, but my eyes Cry the truth, disguised in lies, And if our glances ever meet, I wonder if you're feeling heat— Do you, too, long for something more Than what the silence now ignores? I don’t speak, I don’t break the spell, But my eyes—my eyes will always tell, Of the things I never say, Of the distance, we’ve drifted away. And in those moments, brief, yet true, I wonder if you feel it too.
