Unposted Love: A Soliloquy
(Standing in front of the mirror, getting ready for the day) Another morning, another scroll through social media, another wave of... what is it exactly? Disappointment? Longing? Jealousy? It's a cocktail of emotions, that's for sure. I see couples posting pictures together, celebrating their love for the world to see. And here I am, his boyfriend, existing only in the offline world. I've asked him to post us a few times, but the silence is deafening. Maybe I shouldn't have pushed it. Maybe I should have known better. Perhaps I'm not the kind of person he wants to proudly display. Perhaps our love isn't something he wants to shout from the rooftops. The thought stings, but I try to push it away. It's not the grand gesture I crave, really. It's the simple acknowledgment, the validation that I exist in his world beyond the four walls we share. A post, a picture, anything that says, "This is mine, and I'm proud of it." But instead, silence. And in that silence, a million doubts bloom. Is it me? Am I not enough? Or is this just... the kind of love I deserve?
