Unlucky
She dreamed of him with a heart full of hope, A man she admired but could not approach, She longed for his love, but could only cope, With the endless daydreams that made her heart broach. Her heart would flutter at the mere sight Of him as he passed her by; She wished to hold him tight, But fear kept her dreams in the sky. Then one day, she saw him from afar Hand in hand with a woman, radiant and fair Her heart sank deep, like a wounded star As she realized he was no longer there. The girl felt a pit in her stomach A sorrow that she could not bear For the one she'd admired so much Was now another woman's care. Her dreams, once full of light, Now felt like a hopeless plight, A love that could never take flight, Her heart shattered, and her spirit contrite. She wept and mourned the love she lost The man she never had the chance to hold She knew the price her fear had cost A chance at love, now forever cold. So she carries on with a heavy heart Haunted by the dream that will never be A sad, pitiful and highly emotive part Of a girl who's lost in her reverie.
